Many alcoholics and addicts discuss the concept of a "geograhical cure", on the assumption that their problems will go away if they move to a new location. Those in recovery tend to laugh at this idea because they realized through trial and error that the location may change, but the problems stay the same. Just like highways are littered with crosses representing traffic deaths, the road of addiction carries the same casualties.
